Fat Barry's Soul Band

Since their inception over eleven years ago, Fat Barry's Soul band has rocked the souls of over 250,000 people.

The band was created as an antithesis to the sort of entertainment that was on offer in South Wales at the time; bands were getting smaller because musicians realised they could make more money playing to backing tapes, either solo, or as part of a duo. Venues, on the other hand, figured that disco’s and karaoke nights were a cheaper form of ‘entertainment’. The truth of the matter was that audiences were missing ‘real’ music. They were going home without the feeling of seeing something exciting and memorable.  Fat Barry’s decided to make it big and make it real! They filled the stage with people, sound and movement and made it impossible for audiences to have anything but a good time.

The rest as they say is history.

It is hard to describe the excitement generated on and off stage to someone who has not experience it at first hand, and even harder to analyse what it is that makes them such an explosive outfit; they certainly work hard and generate a unique atmosphere that leaves audiences breathless. They play numbers with a refreshing spontaneity and excitement that is infectious; but most of all, they entertain.

A Fat Barry’s gig isn’t just a band on stage regurgitating songs; it’s a show that the audience becomes hypnotised by, and sucked into.

The group is made up of some of Wales’ finest musicians and performers who are dedicated to the showmanship and theatrics that a Fat Barry’s show requires; It is the teamwork that has made them the musical force that they are today.
