Micky started his varied career in Showbusiness in 1963 by fronting a group called "The Trek-A-Beats" who were one of the first Bristol groups to feature comedy. He then joined "The Rebels" along with Pete Budd of "The Wurzels". After working with various other bands he eventually became lead singer with "The Rod Owen Band" who were resident at The Top Rank Suite Bristol for 2 years and it was during this time that Micky was continually not only improving his comedy skills but also the art of compering, interviewing and presenting contests Etc. Micky then want on the road with The Rod Owen Band who later changed their name. to "The Best of British" and they became one of the most popular comedy showbands in the country and supported many well known stars including Nationwide Tours with The Wurzels and Brotherhood of Man.
Early in 1983 Micky decided to fulfill his long time ambition of going solo and he has become one of the country’s most sought after comedy entertainers.
During 1983 he not only had his first song published but also his first solo album "Under the Bed". This was such a success that in 1984 with the help of his record producer Les Sheriden of The Brotherhood of Man he recorded his second album "Going Bananas" and this was followed in 1985 by his first solo single. "Super Rooster" which received air plays not only on B.B.C. Radio One and Two but on numerous local radio stations throughout the country. Then in 1986 another single followed "El Super Rooster" and in 1988 he made his third album "Super Rooster‘s Party". He has since made three more very successful albums - in 1990 "Rubber Ball" and in 1991 "We want More" followed by "Family Fun Album" in 1992.
Micky is in constant demand to work with and support many Star Names and in the past few years has been seen with Freddie Starr (21 nights) David Essex (28 nights) Joe Longthorne (26 nights) The Supremes Gerry and the Pacemakers. Mike Reid, Frank Carson, The Searchers, The Drifters, Rolf Harris, The Tremeloes, John Inman, Jack Jones, Tom O‘Connor. Roy Castle, Brotherhood of Man, Leslie Crowther etc.
With the amazing ability to capture audiences of every nature with his unique, outrageous and original style of comedy there is no wonder that he has been able to work all types of venues including: Top Night Clubs (The Lakeside. Blazers, Savvas, The Rainbow, Caesars Palace etc) Mecca Bingo Clubs, Major Theatres, Holiday Centres (Butlins, Sussex Beach etc) H.M. Forces (all ranks) Hotels, Corporate Functions, Social Clubs N.E,C Birmingham and even the local pub.!
Micky has appeared on national T.V. several times as well as On Local and National Radio. He also had the honour of appearing at a private function where Prince Charles was present. His talents have not only been restricted to Great Britain he has also played top Hotels in Spain and toured Germany several times.
In 1992 Micky was presented with "CLUB ACT OF THE YEAR" award for South Wales of which of course he is very proud.
An all round entertainer who with his vast experience is suitable for any type of audience or venue. He works completely self contained with his own excellent P.A. system and professionally made Studio Backing Tracks. His ad-lib is amazing and he can compere a show if required.
Micky’s friendly style and zany brand of humour easily wins any audience over within minutes and he is practically always re-booked wherever he appears, a sure sign of a quality act. Micky is one of the brightest and busiest entertainers around and is never happy unless he‘s entertaining, he doesn‘t care where or when, so don‘t let him get withdrawal symptoms!
